1. Introduction

The African CPD Accreditation Network ("ACAN", "we", "us") provides accreditation, digital verification and continuing professional development (CPD) tracking services across Kenya, Uganda, South Africa, Namibia and Rwanda. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

By using our website or services, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly, such as your name, email address, phone number, employer, professional registration details and CPD activity records when you create an account, apply for accreditation, or use the CPD Wallet.

We also collect limited technical information automatically, including your IP address, browser type and pages visited, to help us maintain and improve the platform.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to provide and maintain our services, including processing accreditation applications, issuing and verifying digital certificates, maintaining your CPD Wallet, and communicating with you about your account.

We may also use aggregated, de-identified data to understand trends in professional development across our member countries and to improve our accreditation standards.

4. Sharing & Disclosure

We share information with accredited training providers, employers or regulators only where necessary to verify a credential or process an application — and only to the extent you have authorized.

We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information where required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and integrity of ACAN, our members and the public.

5. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences and understand how the site is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may limit some features.

6. Data Security

We apply administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encrypted storage of CPD records and certificates. No system is completely secure, and we encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your account.

7. Data Retention

We retain your CPD records and account information for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to meet regulatory, audit and verification obligations across our member countries.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your country of residence, you may have the right to access, correct, export or request deletion of your personal information. You can manage most of this directly from your account settings, or by contacting us at info@acan.africa.

9. Children's Privacy

ACAN's services are intended for working professionals and organizations. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of our services after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

11. Contact Us

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your information, reach us at info@acan.africa or through our Contact page.
